Elf vs Colourpop
Everyone uses the internet and I decided to do more research on how exactly websites make us feel. There are two ways we get reactions from a website; through user experience, which is how we use the site, and user interface which is what we see on the site. To analyze the emotional reactions to the design of a site I used a simple sentence structure. “The website makes me FEEL ____ because my NEED for _____ was OR was not being met.”
Using this sentence I analyzed the cosmetics websites E.l.f. Cosmetics and Colourpop Cosmetics. I did this by taking note of my own experiences but also interviewing and surveying other individuals who use this site or who have never used the site before. With my research, I was able to conclude that the user experience design of E.l.f Cosmetics does a better job of meeting the needs of users than Colourpop Cosmetics design. However, the creative needs of users were met by Colourpop’s user interface, but not E.l.f.’s.
I showcase all my research and observation in the document below!
